Brave Man Fights Off ‘Jacked’ Kangaroo To Save His Dog From Drowning

Mick Moloney, a martial arts instructor, marveled at the formidable physique of the marsupial, likening its muscles to that of a recently released convict.

Down under, an Aussie bravely engaged in a skirmish with a kangaroo to protect his faithful canine companion.

In a TikTok video that has since been taken down, circulated by Mildura Martial Arts, a daring individual ventures into the heart of a river to confront a robust marsupial ensnaring a small pup in a tight grip.

The individual in question, identified by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), goes by the name of Mick Moloney. He is renowned as a practitioner and instructor of mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, residing in Mildura, Australia.

According to Moloney’s account to the media outlet, his weekend routine of stretching along the riverbank was interrupted when he noticed the absence of Hatchi, one of his Akitas.

Recounting the peculiar encounter, Moloney described how his attention was drawn toward the river where he caught sight of a substantial kangaroo concealed behind a cluster of reeds. He vividly recounted the surreal image of the kangaroo, standing with its arms immersed in the water, fixatedly observing him from a distance.

As per the account from the Mildura local, “Hatchi found himself ensnared, locked in a struggle with a kangaroo.”

“He was sputtering water, emitting distressing yelps,” he recounted.

Prior to initiating filming, Moloney recounted his efforts to rescue Hatchi using various tactics, such as startling the kangaroo with loud sounds, all to no avail.

Following his futile endeavors, the pet owner confided to ABC, “I knew I had to intervene,” and approached the towering, visibly robust — as he described it, “muscular” — animal.

Moloney marveled at the robust physique of the creature, remarking, “The muscles on this specimen… It’s as if it just stepped out of a penitentiary or something.”

Capturing the encounter on video to corroborate his account, Moloney documented the man’s aggressive stance towards the kangaroo, uttering, “I’m going to unleash hell on you.”

As the marsupial remained unperturbed by the verbal assault, the man demanded, “Release my canine companion,” before launching an attack. In response, the kangaroo swiftly retaliated, causing Moloney’s phone to plummet into the murky depths below.

Following a brief altercation, undocumented by the submerged device, Moloney retrieves his phone and demonstrates that the kangaroo has released Hatchi from its grasp. He playfully splashes the creature and chuckles before hurrying back to his canine companion, now safely ashore.

Later, with a comfortable distance between them and the kangaroo, Moloney, still filming, addresses his dog, “Hatchi, feeling a bit more humble now, aren’t you, buddy?” He turns to his other two Akitas and jests, “And where were you two to rescue him? Huh?”

“Not gonna lie, got pretty roughed up,” he continues, displaying his bloodied hand to the camera.

In a conversation with ABC, Moloney provided a condensed version of the altercation. “Essentially, I gave him a smack on the head, and he retaliated, leading to a scuffle in the water,” he recounted.

Describing the encounter further, he mentioned, “The kangaroo seemed poised to kick at me, so I splashed water on its face and made a quick exit. However, it made another attempt at me as I departed.” Moloney emphasized, “My priority was to retrieve my dog, and I achieved that goal.”

Reflecting on his actions, the mixed martial arts instructor clarified to ABC that he harbored no intentions of cruelty and expressed his fondness for animals.

He further conveyed that Hatchi is in a positive state, and both he and his offspring are resolute about not shying away from the location of the altercation in the days ahead.

“I can’t just avoid that route; it might give the wrong impression to the kangaroos, suggesting we’re intimidated,” he explained to the media source.

Moloney has been inundated with inquiries regarding the inclusion of “roo-jitsu” in his martial arts program, to which he adamantly responds in the negative.

“There’s no chance,” he asserts.

Reflecting on past encounters, he admits, “My bouts with kangaroos are a thing of the past. Those creatures are formidable opponents,” he adds with a hint of humor. “Let’s just say we settled for a draw.”
