In 2013, Lansford endured the loss of his left leg during an IED explosion in Afghanistan. Serving as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division, he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012.
Following the war, Lansford underwent the amputation of his left leg, leading to a life confined largely to his home, reliant on a prosthetic limb for mobility.
In a bid to aid veterans like Lansford in their journey of healing and adjustment post-war, his family introduced him to the companionship and support of a service dog.
Lanford encountered a two-year-old Golden Retriever named Gabe. This friendly canine became Lanford’s steadfast companion, offering invaluable aid in various aspects of his daily life.
Gabe seamlessly transitions from one task to another, lending a paw whenever needed. Whenever Lanford stumbles, Gabe rushes to his side, providing support and stability, enabling Lanford to regain his footing effortlessly.
From man’s best friend to ‘best man.’
