Amazon Delivery Driver Saves Dog Trapped In Burning Car
So glad this dog is safe!
You never know when you’ll encounter someone in need of saving, and it’s always inspiring to see everyday people step up to be heroes.
That was the case recently, after one Amazon delivery driver came across a burning vehicle, and went out of his way to save the dog’s life.
Last month, Ervin Ruhe, an Amazon employee in California’s Central Valley, was out making deliveries when he came across a shocking sight.
There was a car on the side of the road, on fire, with a distressed man reportedly trying to open the door, according to FOX 40.
A representative for Amazon told FOX 40 that the man had freed his wife from the car, but their dog was still trapped in the back seat.
Ruhe pulled his truck over to help. Thankfully, he had a fire extinguisher on hand, and was able to push back the flames enough for .
“I just used a fire extinguisher on it, and I got a dog out of the back for the owners, and the owners are safe,” Ruhe says in a video, showing footage of the still-burning car, adding that he also contacted 911 and a fire truck was on the way.
Ruhe’s employers hailed him as a hero for helping the family and saving the dog’s life. “We are very grateful to Ervin for going above and beyond and helping out a community member and their pet while in distress,” Amazon Delivery Station Senior Regional Manager Navneet Kaur said in a statement, per FOX 40. “It’s amazing to witness the ownership and willingness to go above and beyond to help someone in need.”
However, Ruhe was modest about his heroic actions: “I just wanted to do the right thing and be a good citizen,” Ruhe said. “I saw they needed help and so I acted quickly to do what I can.”
Thank you to Ervin Ruhe for going out of the way to save this dog’s life! You’re a true hero.
