Dog Bringing His Bed To His Sick Brother So He’s Comfy

From the moment they became siblings, Spanky has held his older brother Roman in the highest regard, admiring him with unwavering devotion. Wherever Roman ventures, Spanky faithfully trails behind, finding his greatest joy in their shared company.

“Roman is truly Spanky’s rock,” shared their aunt Jackie Rogers with The Dodo. “Spanky’s world revolves around Roman; he won’t take a step without him and always ensures they’re close together.”

Recently, Roman encountered a health setback when his ear swelled and became infected. Concerned, their mother promptly sought veterinary care, where it was discovered that Roman had developed a hematoma. Surgery was scheduled to rectify the issue, yet as time passed, Roman’s discomfort intensified, his ear deteriorating despite the impending operation.

Spanky remained oblivious to any changes initially, but as Roman’s ear condition deteriorated, it became evident to everyone that Spanky was displaying a heightened sense of gentleness and concern for his closest companion.

“As Roman’s ear worsened, we had to revisit the vet to determine if he could endure five more days before surgery. I brought Spanky along, but we couldn’t accompany Roman inside. Spanky sat in the car, whimpering and barking for a good 20 minutes until Roman returned,” Rogers recounted.

With Roman’s procedure scheduled, the family had no choice but to allow him to recuperate. During the day, while everyone was at work, they relied on a Ring camera to keep an eye on the dogs, particularly crucial now for Roman’s well-being. Rogers was reviewing the footage recently when she noticed Spanky gazing anxiously at his slumbering sibling on the floor — and then something remarkable occurred.

“I witnessed Spanky pacing for a moment, casting concerned glances between Roman and the bed. Suddenly, he began dragging the bed towards Roman, almost as if to say, ‘Here, this is for you.’ The next moment captured them cuddling together,” Rogers recounted. “I had to replay it several times; I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!”

Spanky’s foremost concern was his brother’s well-being, his fervent wish being to ensure his sibling’s utmost comfort. With unwavering affection for his elder kin, Spanky took the initiative to relocate his brother’s bed closer to him, sparing him the inconvenience of movement. This act underscored the depth of Spanky’s devotion and love for his older brother.
