Dog Found Sealed Inside Wooden Box Adopted By Woman Who Found Him

It is truly disheartening to witness the mistreatment of animals by some individuals: there are far too many instances of dogs and cats being discarded and abandoned in cruel ways.

Fortunately, there are compassionate people in the world who are willing to intervene and provide these animals with the loving homes they deserve. This was exemplified recently when a dog, discovered sealed in a wooden box, was adopted by the person who rescued him.

In December, Feleciana Ramirez was informed about a dog that had been discovered locked inside a wooden dog house near the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City, as reported by News9.

The deliberate act of abandonment and leaving the dog to perish was evident: the wooden shelter had been sealed shut with a board and screws. Upon arriving at the location, Feleciana immediately began the process of freeing the distressed dog.

“I used a utility ax to pry it open, peered inside, and to my surprise, found him nestled within,” Feleciana recounted to the outlet. “It was astonishing that he remained silent, not a single whimper escaped him.”

Fortunately, the dog had survived. Feleciana promptly transported him to OKC Animal Welfare, from where he was transferred to the compassionate hands of the nonprofit Mutts Misfits Animal Rescue Society.

According to a Facebook post by Mutts Misfits, the dog had been abandoned near the river without any provisions or sustenance, left to perish. The entrance of the ax bore scratch marks, evidence of his desperate attempts to escape. His body displayed numerous scars and wounds, and he appeared severely malnourished. It was evident that he had endured both physical and emotional suffering, likely extending beyond his confinement in the box.

Despite the hardships he had faced, the dog exhibited a gentle and affectionate nature, as noted by the organization.

The canine was entrusted to the care of a woman by the name of Kayla Wise. Kayla mentioned that the dog, whom she christened Karus, displayed signs of being “very scared” and “exhausted.” She informed News9, “His situation is the most severe I have encountered in my residence.”

However, as time passed, she observed a positive change in his condition. Karus started to gain weight and his true personality began to emerge. “He has become much more self-assured. In the past five weeks, I have witnessed his true character shining through,” she remarked.

As Karus recuperated from his traumatic experience, Kayla initiated the search for a permanent home for the dog — and before long, she found an ideal match: Karus has now been welcomed into the family of Feleciana Ramirez!”.

It is a joyous conclusion to the tale, as Karus has finally found a caring home with the woman who rescued him. After enduring so much, it is the perfect home for him.
