High School Graduate Recreates Photo With Loyal Dog From His First Day Of School
As the season approaches for high school seniors to graduate, amidst the backdrop of a world grappling with the challenges of COVID-19, the typical pomp and circumstance of celebrations and ceremonies have been curtailed. Nevertheless, this moment remains a poignant juncture to bask in the glow of one’s achievements and reflect on the journey thus far.
Amidst this reflective ambiance, one graduate found himself delving into the recesses of nostalgia, embarking on a journey to recreate a cherished moment from the past alongside his faithful companion.
Hailing from Hudson, New Hampshire, Corie Bliss embarked on the journey of canine companionship when she welcomed Ruger into her home as a playful puppy. Quickly ingratiating himself into the fabric of the family, Ruger forged a special bond with Corie’s son, Dylan, becoming a cherished member of their household and an indispensable companion on their annual vacation adventures.
“We make a point to take him along wherever we go,” Corie shared with The Dodo. “He’s incredibly loyal and adores his family.”
Time has flown by, and Ruger has reached the ripe age of eleven. With age, he’s starting to take things a bit slower. Meanwhile, Dylan has just celebrated his high school graduation.
While flipping through old photo albums, Corie stumbled upon a picture of her son and their furry companion from his very first day of 1st grade, back when Ruger was just a playful pup. Touched by the memory, she realized it was a perfect moment for a priceless photo opportunity :

The juxtaposition of the two images evoked a sense of warmth tinged with melancholy, particularly for Corie, Dylan’s mother, who stood behind the lens, brimming with pride.
“Many memories flood back,” Corie remarked, reminiscing as she observed the photos, her voice carrying a hint of emotion.
Moved by the sentimentality of the moment, she opted to share the recreated photo within a dedicated Facebook group, acknowledging the poignant reality that their beloved canine companion, Ruger, might not be with them for much longer.
“Our dear companion Ruger is facing the harsh reality of terminal cancer, yet we felt immense gratitude that he could join us for our son’s recent graduation,” she shared on her Facebook page, as reported by FOX 6.
Corie expressed, “Despite his stoic demeanor, there are moments, especially as the day winds down, where Ruger’s fatigue becomes evident. It’s as though he’s not quite himself, even though he puts on a brave face when outdoors.”
For Dylan, Ruger has been a constant source of comfort and companionship throughout his school years.
Reflecting on their journey together, Dylan expressed, “Having Ruger by my side through all the ups and downs of school has been incredibly comforting. No matter the grade, I’ll always cherish the memories of being welcomed home by Ruger at the door.”
With Ruger’s health declining, the family is making plans for a summer getaway to his favorite spot, recognizing it may be their last adventure together. Their determination to provide Ruger with the utmost care underscores their deep bond with him.
What a touching moment captured in the photo. Congratulations to Dylan on his graduation, and heartfelt gratitude to Ruger for his unwavering loyalty over the years. Let’s spread this heartwarming tale far and wide!
