Loyal Service Dog Graduates With Honors After Helping Owner Through Middle School

Service dogs prove indispensable for individuals who rely on their assistance. Beyond mere companionship, these remarkable canines empower their owners to accomplish tasks that would otherwise be challenging.

A steadfast service dog accompanied her owner throughout numerous years of academic endeavors. Upon the owner’s recent graduation, the loyal canine was present to receive a well-deserved recognition of her own.

Sadie, the devoted service dog of Annslee Barbosa, has been a constant companion to her since third grade, as reported by KENS5. Annslee, who battles Type 1 diabetes, found solace and safety in Sadie’s presence, especially during her school days.

Throughout their journey together, Sadie has proven to be more than just a pet; she’s been a true guardian angel.

Liz, Annslee’s mother, expressed in a heartfelt Facebook post, “Sadie has been Annslee’s lifeline on numerous occasions, her heroism immeasurable. She’s not just saved Annslee’s life countless times but has also intervened to help strangers, including a man at the mall and a grandmother at Groves Elementary.”

When Annslee walked the stage to receive her diploma from Groves Middle School, Sadie trotted beside her, wearing a cap and gown of her own, symbolizing their unbreakable bond. Liz proudly shared, “Sadie graduated with flying colors, earning her place among the distinguished alumni of the middle school :

Sadie’s journey alongside Annslee as she transitions to high school has come to an end. Liz described it as a “difficult decision” made by her daughter after careful consideration.

However, Sadie’s chapter doesn’t end here. She’ll be assuming a new role as the “guardian of the house,” remaining at home.

After serving faithfully as a companion dog in school for many years, this transition honors Sadie appropriately. Liz expressed that the devoted dog deserves this recognition and more.
