Man Builds A Mobile Bed For His 16-Year-Old Dog To Enjoy His Last Vacation

Residing in Georgia, USA, Tom Antonino shares his home with his wife and their cherished companion, Cocoa, a beloved Chesapeake Retriever of 16 years. Their household tradition entails regular visits to the Virginia Beach Pier, a tradition they’ve upheld for numerous years. However, as Cocoa aged, mobility became a challenge, prompting Tom to devise a solution to ensure her inclusion in their cherished outings. Recognizing Cocoa’s diminishing ability to move around effortlessly, Tom ingeniously crafted a mobile bed to facilitate her comfort during their beach trips.

In Cocoa’s twilight days, her family remained resolute in providing her with a semblance of normalcy. It was during this time that Tom conceived the brilliant notion of fashioning a bespoke mobile bed, allowing them to transport their beloved pet with ease and grace to their beloved destination, ensuring her continued participation in their treasured family rituals.

Cocoa’s father, Tom, told WTKR, a local news station:

“My spouse and I innovated a method for strolling with her by employing a motorized vine alongside various contraptions. With a rope and a bed at hand, we orchestrated the setup and moved it along.”

In their haste, Tom and Lauren swiftly escorted Cocoa to the Virginia Beach shoreline to catch the sunset once their portable bed was fully constructed.

Carrie Copenhaver intercepted the couple and captured moments of their endeavor, subsequently sharing the images on her Facebook profile.

The lady wrote:

“Several weeks ago, as Mike and I pedaled down the boardwalk, our eyes caught sight of a gentleman strolling alongside his cherished feline companion.”

Carrie continued :

“Not particularly nimble on her feet, she improvised a makeshift bed, dragging it along to bask in the salty air of the beach.”

Unbeknownst to Tom, who abstains from any online presence, a snapshot of him and Cocoa would transcend borders, becoming a global sensation.

Regrettably, the heartfelt moment shared between Tom, his wife, and Cocoa marked one of their final outings together, as the faithful dog passed away long after their leisurely stroll. Nonetheless, Tom maintains that their unique bond will endure eternally.
