Vet Comforts Dogs To Comfort Them After A Surgical Procedure
As a young pup in a shelter, the world can seem daunting. Imagine the fear that sets in when you’re suddenly sedated, surrounded by strangers wielding sharp tools. But then enters Dennis Moses, a comforting presence who steps in post-surgery, cradling these furry patients like newborns as they awaken from their procedures.
At BARCS Animal Shelter in Baltimore, Maryland, Dennis serves as a surgical assistant, specializing in comforting pets after their surgeries. Once the operation is complete, he gently scoops up the recovering pup, holding it close in a tender embrace akin to soothing an infant.
In a heartwarming video shared on Facebook by barCS Animal Shelter, Dennis can be seen showering affection upon Meesha, a dog who had just undergone sterilization. With gentle kisses and soothing words, he comforts her tenderly.
“Communicating with her, serenading her,” Dennis elucidated. “Imagine waking up disoriented after surgery,” he empathized. “It’s disconcerting, even for our furry friends, especially when they’re young and in a shelter.”
As Meesha stirs from anesthesia, whimpering in discomfort, Dennis cradles her lovingly, crooning a gentle melody. When queried about his choice of song, he revealed “Ten Little Froggies,” a childhood tune he once sang to his sister.
Although Dennis remains unaware of Meesha’s origins, his primary focus lies in comforting the multitude of dogs passing through the operating room each day, regardless of their histories. His paramount concern revolves around ensuring the safety of canine procedures and fostering a sense of ease in each furry visitor.
Speculation surrounds Meesha’s past, with Dennis surmising she might have been a stray or relinquished to a shelter by her previous caretaker. Regardless of her backstory, Meesha has found solace and contentment in her forever home, having been embraced by a loving family.
Encouragement is extended to prospective pet owners to consider shelter dogs like Meesha, whose pasts may remain a mystery but who are in dire need of affection and a permanent place to call home.
